Fucoidan papers exceed 4000

Demand for natural, efficacious and sustainable ingredients continues to drive global research in fucoidan.

The number of published scientific papers relating to fucoidans has recently surpassed 4000 (Scopus). “This represents a significant milestone in fucoidan research,” said Marinova’s Marketing & Communications Manager, Amanda Mackinnon. “Of the 4000 published papers, the four primary research areas represented are biochemistry, pharmacology, medicine, and agricultural and biological sciences,” she explained.

Marinova is experiencing increasing demand for its high purity fucoidans, both for inclusion in premium nutritional applications and for cutting edge pharmaceutical research projects. “There is immense interest in efficacious and sustainably sourced marine bioactives, including fucoidans. Researchers have clearly turned their attention to natural products as they seek to identify potential health solutions for the future.”

An indication of the increasing scientific interest in fucoidan is provided in the graph below. There has been a particular rise in the number of publications over the last 20 years.
