Sustainability leadership
The sustainability credentials of Marinova's fucoidans have recently been recognised across Australia in two high profile business award programs.
The 30th annual Tasmanian Export Awards were held in late October. Marinova was the recipient of the Sustainability and Green Economy Award, and was also named the overall 2024 Tasmanian Exporter of the Year. The Tasmanian Export Awards recognise the innovation, resilience and global success of Tasmanian exporters across various industries. Presenting Marinova with the top accolade, Premier and Minister for Trade and Major Investment, the Honourable Jeremy Rockliff MP, praised the company's contribution to the state’s economy and its role promoting Tasmania on the world stage, announcing, “This Tasmanian company is a fantastic example of a pioneering, world-leading organisation that is showcasing its products and services to the world."
The company was also named the Tasmanian State Winner of the Promoting Sustainability category in the highly regarded Telstra Best of Business Awards. With a history that spans more than three decades, the Telstra Best of Business Awards are widely recognised as Australia’s most prestigious business awards program. They shine a spotlight on the remarkable achievements of the country’s most dynamic small to medium enterprises.
Speaking of the two announcements, Marinova’s CEO Paul Garrott said, “We are honoured that our longstanding commitment to sustainability has been recognised. For more than two decades, Marinova has focused on the sustainable production of high quality marine extracts, transforming an introduced seaweed species into bioactive ingredients for some of the world’s most trusted healthcare brands.”
Mr Garrott continued, “This recognition is testament to Marinova’s exceptional team of personnel. Their dedication to delivering genuine environmental, health and economic benefits has shaped the company’s position as the global leader in its field. From the hand harvesting of introduced seaweeds and the development of proprietary green chemistry extraction technology, to the productive reuse of by-product and the utilisation of renewable energy – the list of sustainability initiatives that support our fucoidan extracts span the entire length of the supply chain.”
